The American Scream

Yesterday was another tough day in the market, who knows what today will bring.

Who knows? God knows.

We need to remember that He is in control and that all this is happening to fulfill His will at this point in time.

I do not know where the bottom is, but whatever we are going through, I am certain of one thing.

We deserve it or He would not be doing it.

People are incredibly nervous, or incredibly depressed or incredibly confused. How can things be this way, seemingly overnight? Well it has been building, we have just chosen to ignore it.

Look back into the Old Testament, see how God's people get hammered, time and again when they are outside of God's will. Are we in God's will? As a friend told me yesterday, as a society, as a culture, we do not know how to blush (Jeremiah 6:15).

What makes us so special, what makes us exempt? Nothing. We are not a nation of priests (a role the nation of Israel did not fulfill well in the Old Testament). I fear we are more like a nation of pests to God right now.

We probably need to spend more time on our knees, asking for His mercy and grace; asking for His guidance. More time on our knees turning back to Him.

Because if He turns His back on us, we ain't seen nothing yet.

This brings to mind a Scripture:

"If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,
O LORD, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
That you may be feared." Ps. 130: 3-4

But for the grace of God, we would have no hope.

The American Scream - perhaps this is a scream of pride. I am living proof that when you have a certain level of money, it is easy to become a god unto yourself.

Our nation, as a whole, certainly isn't humbling itself, and seeking God's face.

Who knows the mind of God. For me, He is sovereign, I was chosen as one of the elect, and I am determined to flush this prideful arrogance out of my flesh.

For me to live...is Christ. I WAS dead. He miraculously regenerated by cold, hard, black, dead heart and effectually called me to his own.

This life is but a vapor. I will live forever, with my King, in heaven. These things that I continually concern myself with are but a heaping, steaming pile of dung.

Currently, I have to tell myself these things daily. They are not yet in my cells.

My real job, here on earth is to get over myself and become salt and light.

I am working diligently on it.

Nice passage, it fits in so well. You just have to look in the Bible to find what you need.

What I have learned from the recent market activity is to stay diligent in my walk. it is easy to fall into some pious feelings when life is good and the bank account is fat and happy. But lose some of your "stuff" and watch out!

I have struggled a bit to stay focused on Him and His provision to me as He deems it appropriate. It isn't my stuff, but His that He gave me to hold. If He wants it back, who am I to complain?

Thanks for your openness in sharing your thoughts.
