Life Marches On

After a most welcome period of several days of rain, after weeks of 100+ weather, it has been sunny again for a couple of days and is in the 60's this morning. I am out back enjoying our new patio, looking at what all has been going on in the backyard. (And mobile blogging, all this over my cellphone). This is what I saw, which was not there a few days ago. Mushrooms, or toadstools, whatever (not really sure what is the difference, if you know, please let me know), growing up in a few days of sunshine. Not sure if they are magic mushrooms, I'll have to watch and see if our 14 year old dog starts chasing squirrels again.

Amazing growth, life marches on. It will not be stopped by the likes of man, because it is at the behest of our Creator.

The Problem With Texas Weather

My wife and I have been struggling with colds and sinus issues since we returned from our Thanksgiving family visit back east. Not a commentary on visiting family, another subject for another day. It does speak to the issue I have with the weather in Texas. For one, it is always windy here. We get stuff blowing in here from all over, and we get it all the time. We may not grow bad air in Texas, but we definitely import it. For another, the weather swings all over the place:

I did not make these up, I got them off weather.com. This is what we deal with, weather-wise. Makes for an interesting time. This is what last week looked like. From the 20's to the 80's and heading back down again. (Today is in the 50's)

I could live with either end of the temperature spectrum, but is it too much to ask for some consistency?

Apparently it is.

North by Northeast - Pt. 3

As I get ready to head out to the east, I keep seeing weather forecasts of snow flurries and decidedly colder weather than Dallas is experiencing. So now, the chore is what to pack to wear. I always feel a little silly when I am wearing a winter coat to the airport and it is in the 50's or 60's. But you have to be ready, so foolishly I go.

I do not know who Gary is, but he appears to be a genius. Simple, yet effective weather forecasting technology is now at my fingertips in a low tech, high touch sort of way. I hope they sell these at the airport.
